The education of even a small child, therefore, does not aim at preparing him for school, but for life

– Dr. Maria Montessori

Who is Dr. Maria Montessori?

Dr. Maria Montessori, born in 1870, was the first woman in Italy to receive a medical degree. She worked in the fields of psychiatry, education and anthropology. She believed that each child is born with a unique potential to be revealed, rather than as a “blank slate” waiting to be written upon. Her main contributions to raising and educating children are in these areas:

  • Preparing the most natural and life-supporting environments for the child
  • Observing the child living freely in the environment
  • Continually adapting the environment in an order that the child may fulfill his or her greatest potential, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

About Us

Cambridge Montessori Children's Center Inc., founded in BC Canada in 2007, provides a caring community that nurtures each child’s natural curiosity for learning. Our program encourages the full development of social, emotional, physical, academic, artistic and life skills. We instill lifelong learning in our children by allowing them to develop at their own pace, according to their own unique needs. In a friendly, clean and safe environment, it inspires them to realize their full potential while enjoying life’s journey.

She feels honored to work with children in Cambridge Montessori Children Center, and she believes that high-quality education early in a child’s life leads to continued success later in school, at work, and also leads to better well-rounded intelligently, emotionally and socially. Ms. Peggy’s goal is to direct each child to experience the excitement of learning by his/her own path, as well as help children to perfect all their senses for actual learning. “The hand is the chief teacher of the child” -  Dr. Maria Montessori

Ms. Sapinder, Cambridge Montessori Children’s Centre

Ms. Sapinder is an Early Childhood Education Assistant (ECEA). In addition, she has completed her Responsible Adult in Child Care Setting Certificate, Emergency First AID/CPR/AED Certificate, Food Safe Level 1 Certificate, and Sensory Kids and Sensitive Child Care Certificate.  In her life experience, she has developed a deep passion and inclination towards children, due to being a motherly mentor to them from a very young age.  She believes that children starting at a toddler age are like empty vessels and that they will absorb whatever they experience, and these experiences will create the foundation and shape their lives for years to come. She believes that these are the years that will mold a child into what they will eventually become.

Ms. Natalie, Cambridge Montessori Children’s Centre

Ms. Natalie is a licensed ECEA and is a student at Northern Lights College studying to complete her ECE Diploma. She is completing her studies so she will be able to put her new knowledge into practice. Ms. Natalie decided to pursue her passion working with children after having completed her diploma in Photography as well as Graphic Design and Advertising to realize that the design industry was not fulfilling enough. She’s excited to put smiles on children’s faces and to learn as much as she can from them.

Ms. Ana Maria, Cambridge Montessori Children’s House

Ms. Ana Maria took Early Childhood Education from Vancouver Career College in 2015-2016. The most rewarding part of working with children is watching and observing them learn, create, discover, and express their individuality in their own special way. While children are away from family and home, it is important to make them feel accepted, secure, safe and loved, which is her goal to provide to them. This is a new humbling learning experience to work with Cambridge Montessori as a full time teacher. She hopes to inspire, motivate, and guide all children entrusted to our care with the best of her ability.
“All our handling of the child will bear fruit, not only at the moment, but in the adult they are destined to become” – Maria Montessori
